TAG || Book Blogger Newbie

I was hoping to get a review out this week but I’ve been waaaay too busy with work (I’m setting up a cafe, you guys! Woohoo!) and I haven’t had much time or energy to read. Recently, I discovered that this was a thing so I decided to do the Book Blogger Newbie tag! I mean, I’m only about four months into blogging. That still counts as new, right?

Why did you start this blog?

I have this up on my about page but for the sake of the tag, I’ll discuss it here!

  1. I love books. Pretty obvious.
  2. I love opinions. Blogging is a way for me to get my opinions out there, hear the opinions of others, and perhaps partake in fruitful discussions of things we commonly enjoy (a.k.a. books).
  3. I don’t have bookish friends in real life. My friends read books but they’re not as into it as I am. They’re more casual and they tend to read only on occasion (also they never read any of the books I recommend so I can never gush about a book with them). I’m also waaaay too shy to approach anyone who does read. Blogging would be a good way for me to make some new friends, ones that I can ramble on and on about books with.

What are some fun and unique things you can bring to book blogging?

To be honest, I have no clue. I’m gonna go with the cheesy answer and say, “I’m the only me in the world so I get to add my own uniqueness to book blogging.” Ha!

What are you most excited about for this new blog?

Meeting people I can fangirl over books with. Eeeeeeeee!

Why do you love reading?

Reading allows me to dream. Reality sucks too much. I’d rather spend my spare time battling dragons and exploring new worlds. Reading also reminds me that every challenge can be overcome and that nothing is impossible.

What book or series got you into reading?

My family got me a bunch of children’s storybooks when I was young. I actually still have most of them, including this large book of stories, nursery rhymes, and lullabies (it’s in terrible condition). I guess those were what got me into reading. I’ve always loved fairytales and stories about princesses, and as I grew out of those basic fairytale books, I started searching for other ones. Though  I’ve always considered The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry as my first “official” book, so I’m gonna give credit to that!

What questions would you ask your favorite authors?

WHERE DO YOU GET ALL THAT CREATIVITY? Seriously, I’ve tried my hand at writing a couple of times before (lol at my Fanfiction days) and felt like my work was unoriginal or boring or just plain stupid. And then I read all these amazing books with these complex plots and multifaceted characters and I’m just… how the hell do you guys come up with this stuff? Do I need to offer sacrifices to some obscure book writing god??? Because I am so damn ready—  *brings out a goat*

What challenges do you think starting a blog will be the hardest to overcome?

Keeping up with the trends, being consistent with posts, and pressure, among other things. The book community is fast as hell. Authors churn out book after book after book and I only have limited time to read. Post consistency is something I clearly need to work on. All my posts so far have been sporadic. I try to keep up a schedule but life gets in the way and argh. No posts for days. Sometimes even weeks. Then there’s the pressure because I’m a newbie blogger and who the fuck is going to want to read my stuff, right? Too many bloggers out there, which can get discouraging at times. But hey, as long as I’m having fun, what does it matter?

When did you start reading?

I’ve been reading ever since I can remember. I can’t recall the exact age but I started reading when I was very, very young, and I just never stopped.

Where do you read?

Everywhere! You know that opening scene in Beauty and the Beast where Belle just walks around town while reading a book? I used to do that all the time in school. Like literally walking down the hallway with a book in my face. I got scolded by my teachers for it heh. Of course, nowadays I actually sit when I read a book (because being an adult means I need to be presentable in public bleh) but I still pretty much read everywhere. I never leave my house without a book, whether it’s a physical copy or an ebook!

What kind of books do you like to read?

To be honest, I’m really bad with genres. I’m an idiot and I can’t tell the difference between NA and Adult or High Fantasy and Epic. I just… like books with magic? And strange worlds? As long as it’s fantasy, I’m good. Unless it’s urban. I don’t seem to get along well with Urban Fantasy. I’m definitely more of a YA reader and I like shorter books (about 400 pages or less). Big books turn my brain to mush and I have to be in a specific mood to be able to tackle those. Oh, and I like to read Contemporary and Historical Fiction on occasion!

Well, there ya have it! My first book tag! Hope I didn’t bore you guys to death heh. Thanks a bunch for reading! ❤

  1. I love these tags – you really feel like you get to know people better 🙂
I can relate to a lot of this, and it’s soo nice to know I’m not the only one trying to figure out everything (and get some kind of post schedule going 😛 )

Also, good luck with the cafe!

  3. I loved reading your answers here – I can totally relate to a lot of it. I don’t have many family or friends who are as such avid readers as I am so blogging gives me a means of sharing my love for books with others. I so agree with you ! Books are definitely the best and most perfect escape from reality where we can free our imaginations and traverse multiple fictional universes!
I look forward to reading more from you in the future… Happy Reading (p.s.: Good luck and best of wishes on your cafe!)
