TOP 5 WEDNESDAY || Slytherin Books

For this week’s T5W, we have books that represent your Hogwarts House! So here are some books that I think fellow Slytherins would enjoy (or even if you’re not in Slytherin, you should totally still read them because these books are amazing).

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

This shouldn’t even be a surprise. One of the main characters, Kaz Brekker, is probably the most Slytherin of Slytherins in YA. Ambitious? Check. Cunning? Double check. Resourceful? Triple check. Also, what Slytherin wouldn’t want to read about a group of criminals outcasts and outcasts attempting a heist?

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

It took a while for me to figure out why this one was a Slytherin for me. The book revolves around a competition within the circus in which two magicians constantly try to outdo each other. Resourceful and cunning and clever. Can’t get more Slytherin than that.

And I Darken by Keirsten White

Clearly, a YA retelling of a female Vlad the Impaler constitutes a Slytherin book. Lada is a Slytherin through and through. She has a high sense of self-presevation. She isn’t afraid to get what she wants, and she’s fiercely protective of what she has. She’s ambitious as hell and straightforward, too. But she’s also very loyal to those she cares about.

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

Slytherins love power. But sometimes, power can lead to corruption, as evidenced by the many Slytherin who turned to the Dark Arts. Probably why Slytherin is stereotyped as the evil and cruel house too. Dorian Gray is the very essence of that; a man who does everything he can to keep his youth and beauty, only to suffer terrible consequences afterwards.

Vicious by V.E. Schwab

This one’s a bit of a cheat. I’m only halfway through it but damn, the Slytherin vibes I’m getting from this one are real. Two ambitious boys seeking revenge. Such a coincidence, since I’ve been tearing my hair out trying to think of my last book and then the next book in my TBR comes in with all it’s Slytherin glory.

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam (Thoughts on Tomes) and created by Lainey (gingerreadslainey) on Goodreads. Interested? Join in the fun!
